Over the next week or two, Edinburgh Mindfulness will change to Light Touch Mindfulness.
Why the change?
It’s taken me time to figure out what I’m doing, how I’m doing it and why. When I started my plan was to offer a version of the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Release course in Edinburgh. That was it. As I’ve spoken to more people and written about mindfulness, I’ve come to realise that I want to operate at the ‘lighter’ end of the spectrum, and not limited to Edinburgh or even face-to-face courses.
If you imagine 10-minute guided meditations on the Headspace app at one end and intensive silent Insight Meditation retreats at the other, the first end is where I sit.
I’ve been on intensive retreats, and I love them. But I want to offer something to people who aren’t looking for a spiritual earthquake. People looking for a practical and accessible approach to mindfulness. My people – you reading this. I know you want something simple and easy to grasp. An approach that will help you today to feel clearer, less confused, less driven and less overwhelmed.
A personal touch
Another change is that I’ll be writing under my own name – Norman Lamont, not the anonymous-sounding Edinburgh Mindfulness. I have my own personal slant on this stuff and now I’m happy to be straight about it.
A Light Touch
Everything has changed and nothing has changed. Just learning to be at peace with yourself for 10 seconds is the key to getting on better for the next 10 seconds. And, if you want, it can change your life. It’s about having your finger lightly on your life. A nudge here and there rather than driving a snowplough through your life. Light Touch Mindfulness.
